Stock 3570k (77W TDP) heatsink on Xeon E3-1275 (95W)?

They use the same heatsink design, so it will be fine. Keep an eye on the temps though, if they get past say 80C, I'd recommend an aftermarket cooler.

I recently got a Xeon E3-1275, but a heatsink wasn't included. I have a 3570k (and it's stock heatsink), but the Xeon's TDP is 18W higher.

 

I just want to know if you guys think it would be alright to reuse the 3570k heatsink (after removing and reapply thermal compound, of course). I know it's the same socket and will be physically compatible, just want to ensure that the TDP difference won't make it unusable.

I'm not sure if stock coolers from i5s are suggested for Xeons, but it would work.

 

Just keep track of your temps
