A free music making software for fun? Help please

Giganizer300PRO

So I have seen some people making music with PC programs, my friend too, and I wanna try it out for fun myself.

So, therefor, I'm looking for a free software to play around when I'm bored.

Thanks for the help :D

audacity is really fun. there is a limit of sounds you can put at once. but you can save and re-upload the whole thing as one soundtrack to add more :P

takes a bit of getting used to because of it. but its really worth it :)

Can't think of any decent free DAWs that actually give you the power of a fully featured version. I'd recommend Reaper as a get-started kind of thing. 60 days free evaulation period.

Alternatively, save up a bit and buy it, or FL Studio, Ableton, Cubase or Reason. Use them for a week or two and see which you enjoy using and get the most productivity out of. Also, check out Blue Cat Audio free VSTs. Can turn any cheap piece of software into a pro looking suite.

Cant say anything about 'Reaper' as I haven't used it. But from the other DAWs mentioned I would start with Ableton, it's a lot more simpler and easy to get to grips to in comparison to the others in my  personal opinion. With any piece of DAW software it'll take some time to get used to and really get every part of it to any usable state

I looking for an easy thing to play around, not something professional.

You need a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and there are a number of Free/Open Source options. Wikipedia actually has good information and a good list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_audio_workstation#Free_and_open_source_software

I would also visit http://www.reddit.com/r/wearethemusicmakersand if you're looking to make electronic music http://www.reddit.com/r/edmproduction.

First time I've ever seen someone describe Ableton as simple.

-snip-

Compared to FL Studio and Cubase?  It's a walk in the park
