I got a very old PC, practically a DINOSAUR by my grandfather, i took it apart, but theres one thing that irritates me: ONE IRREMOVABLE SCREW! Its on the top right corner of the motherboard, ITS PRACTICALLY DRILLED IN! I DONT KNOW IF THIS COMPUTER IS PREBUILT WITH A AUTOMATIC DRILL. I CANT REMOVE THE MOTHERBOARD AT ALL, I tried pushing it down while twisting it counter-clockwise because all the screws remove counter clockwise. MYGOD It chipped because i tried to remove it so much it chipped, so all screwheads GO RIGHT THROUGH, DOESNT LOCK. I am dead. The screw is so strong man, i might have to break the motherboard, the mobo is dead anyways.

I was planning to do a REBOOT series where i rebuilt it with better parts. The Case unexpectedly is moddable, all of the sides can be take off with afew screws like the top of the case, front, back, and bottom are each individual parts screwed together, i was going to spray paint it black. I got an old mobo to replace and a 775 CPU to go with it BUT THE FCKING SCREW ON THE OLD MOBO DOESNT REMOVE, ITS LITERALLY WELDED, WONT BUDGE A SINGLE MILLIMETER. HELP ME!!! I got various screwhead sizes and types, 2 of them fit the screw but i used them to much and the screw chipped, so now theres a cicrcular hole rather than an X

Drill out the centre with a 1mm bit and then slowly go bigger until the screw basically falls apart on itself and the motherboard will break free.

I've had to do this a few times with old PC's.

This is when you need to use a Dremel tool.

Guys. I dont have a drill. Buying one is out of the question

the case/MB standoff is holding the screw in place.

if you don't have tools, or can't buy them, you're screwed. pun intended.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Pliers? The outside of motherboard screws are usually hex pattern to an extent.

If your sure it's a dead motherboard then just break the sucker off if pliers don't work.

best case senerios, you break the fuckerboard out of there, then use pliers to unscrew the standoff itself and just install a new MB with 8 screws.

I BROKE IT. Feels good. Though bad loots:

  1. Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST340014A 40GB
  2. Old LG Writemaster
  3. SD Card Reader
  4. Pentium 4 2.4Ghz PPGA478 Socket. Who uses that anymore, i wanna stress test it.
  5. 2 Different DDR1 Sticks, each 256MB

I think all of those total 80 USD if sold each? I wanna retail but at the same time i wannna rebuild but it seems not possible, far too dinosaur

The Barracuda and card reader is usable. Optical drive can be thrown. Processor and RAM will make nice trophies.

That is the same as creating a new build. Optical drive is shit. when i start it up it rattles. FUCK YEAH MY FIRST TROPHY

I agree. Pliers or a small enough socket to unscrew it
