What features turn off with a illegal copy of windows?

I have a laptop I got from a friend and apparently the windows7 copy is not legit and has the black screen background.  It seems to me so far its going alot slower than normal copys of windows, what other features does it turn off or "bottleneck" if any?

It doesn't, but there will most likely be other "friendly programs" in there if it's doing that. I suggest you buy a copy of win7/win8 and just be done with it.

The projects never end in my line of work.

If its cracked correctly then none, it will operate exactly the same as a valid version of windows.

If its not validated, then a lot of shit can be disabled, I'd recommend just buying a new copy of windows and using that.

Yep gotta love the "friendly programs" they add to cracked versions.

Also just buy an actual copy, use your student email and get Windows for only 60 bucks.

Where can I do that? I have seen upgrades, but not full licenses for $60.

It is only upgrades, as far as I can tell.

I actually think the reason its slow is the slower HDD in it (Around 5000 rpm I think)  but yeah a new OS as well as maybe a new HDD or even throw my money into a furnace and buy a 1tb ssd to put in it!

All laptops should have a windows product key located at the bottom. Check out what version it is and activate it. Besides the black screen, I've read there is a time limit until the system shutdown or restart like very 2 hours or so.

HP Envy X360 15: Intel Core i5 8250U @ 1.6GHz 4C:8T / 8GB DDR4 / Intel UHD620 + Nvidia GeForce MX150 4GB / Intel 120GB SSD / Win10 Pro x64

The idiot installed a specialized version of Windows that he downloaded. These are bad because they are typically modified in the base code and structure by people that have insufficient knowledge and/or experience. A normal "pirated" <such a stupid term> version has no differences, except MAYBE some blocks on the built-in spyware that comes with Windows 8/8.1. Installing a new copy should work fine, just be careful when you go to download it, IF you download it.
