Picking Out a PSU

Go to solution Solved by Raudi_,

EVGA G2 750w can't go wrong with it.

In the event that my PSU is whats junked in my computer not delivering correct voltages and such. im gonna need to get another one. So heres a rundown of what ill be running

AMD FX-8320

R9 270x(maybe.)
Radeon 5830(maybe)

(dont know if the r9 is whats broken)

Lets say 8 USB ports (my monitor is a hub)

2 HDD's 7200 RPM's

4 12v Fans.

Asus 5A87L Mobo.

2x4GB 1333ghz RAM

now Im not 100% sure what that equals. but my math says around 500W

and to achieve a full 500 watts i would expect 20% of that. so i need a 600w ish PSU.

now the problem with that is torn which kind to get..currently im using a NZXT.  but i see alot of stuff about seasonic. and corsair and all kinds of stuff.

cant seem to get a good answer on what a decent reliable PSU brand is. when it comes to a PSU. money can NOT be sacrificed. im willing to spend 100$+ on a 600w psu. but fuck if i know WHICH psu to get. i have no idea what a good psu brand is, is my main problem

sooo a little help?

On their cheaper PSU's below 750W there is some issues with them, I said the 750 G2 from them since its a Super Flower design so it would be reliable, since my current PSU is going on its 5th year and was a superflower design.

Anything decent 550W+

Corsair CX600

Cooler Master VS600

Anything Seasonic 550W+

Anything Rosewill 550W+

and another  problem :P just recently ive heard bad things abotu the CX series of corsair. and i heard cooler master is a low teir PSU. heard good stuff about seasonic. and i hear rosewill is a cheap peice of junk. but the rosewill i had performed great..

i kind of want a democracy on this...enough voices of the community to sololy agree on a good psu.

i know you're goign to hear bad stuff about psu's from every manufacturer. but when that voice is heard from a small place. its kinda obvious. know what i mean?

if more people agree :P ill ask for a link

He's a well known PSU reviewer who actually tears the thing apart and measures the specs.

You can get one for $105 after rebate from Newegg.

XFX are great budget power supplies, managing to stay cheap while still being Tier 2B.

That stays true for some of their models but they have used really shit OEM manufacturers in the past.

Their flagship TS psus are made by Seasonic.

Tier 2B goodness :D

@Ryouichi Kiriyami 750G2 is an excellent power supply (though overkill for your needs). The 650/750G1's aren't very good though. CX series are okay but I wouldn't recommend them outside of the CX430 for low end systems on a tight budget.

I'd recommend this for your build: http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=59615&vpn=P1550SXXB9&manufacture=XFX&promoid=1088

:/ i dont quite think 550 is enough. id need 500 just to top really. and @ 20% efficiency id only get 440 watts out of it :P

I think you're doing that backwards. If you drew 500 watts from the wall, your PSU would be using 20% less (assuming 80% efficiency).

I used an original CX430 (only 336 watts on the 12v rail) with a 270 for quite a while with no issues, and the 270x doesn't consume much more power.
