Light weight OS

Go to solution Solved by Brandon Cassie,

It depends on how you go about hackintoshing your system

It isn't the easiest thing in the world getting it right, took me about two weeks to get everything working as it should

You won't see much difference between Windows & OSX in terms of performance when it comes to content creation software, I'm just using it for the OSX exclusive software...so if that's your reason, you're fine

So youre going to try installing OSX on a PC to get a 3% performance improvement in Premiere?

why not just upgrade the PC and get a 50% performance improvement?

I am not doing it to get a performance increase. As I said I need it for a single program and it would be a bonus if it gave me a performance increase in Premiere. Since we all would like extra performance. I could build a new PC to get more performance but that is no where near my question and I do get I could.

I am using a i7 3770 so not a bad cpu but ageing.

I normally run Windows but I am going to be running OS X for a program. I have wondered weather I would see any performance increase in Premiere by using it on OS X compared to Windows.  I think I would only do it if I got a 2-3% increase or more.

If this is not a mac, i'm pretty sure you can find a solid windows alternative so you don't have to go through the trouble of installing OS X, unless you want to of course.

EDIT: Not trying to be rude, but I don't see a point in this post. If you do get a performance boost you will know when you do it, and 2-3% is not something to get excited about lol.

Thanks and yes I am using exclusive software, Logic Pro X is the one that I plan to use.

2-3% is nice when your rendering hours of video every week. 2-3% is a good amount over time. It is not anything major yes but if it was there it would be worth using.
