$800 AUD Budget gaming build.

Hawx

Seems to be as low as I can go without hurting quality or performance in a major way. Any suggestions to improve cost or performance would be welcome. Friend I'm building this for is on a tight budget so not much breathing room (he was planning on buying an Acer Aspire at first /facepalm)

Thanks guys

an i3 will outperform it in gaming, but a 6300 will beat it in ALMOST everything else.

if he video edits more than 1 hour a day then get a 6300

if he does serious work on it then get a 6300

if he streams on it for more than an hour with a legit purpose that isn't some random stream with 3 viewers get a 6300

other than that (if he only games) an i3 will do better.

Laptop | 2018 MBA 256/16GB | MX Master

Only problem is that H97/Z97 boards are more expensive and 2 cores with HT vs 6 physical cores.

EDIT: Yeah I see some performance issues with gaming online. Will see what I can do.

doesn't the fx 6300 have 3 physical cores?

and you could get it around the price if you tried

Went with the H-87 PRO from asus. $763 should be all good.
