Quick Question, please help

Hi!

 

I have to send my friend a text document but I don't have office so I'll be using notepad. So when he downloads it (will be sending it via gmail) his pc will use office word to open it, right? And it will look just like if I would have written it in word, right?

It will open in notepad but he can right click and choose open with word..

If you save it as a .txt file your friend's computer will default to open it with notepad, but he can right click and open with to open it with word or any other text editor/word processor for that matter.

 

He won´t know how to do that, any way for me to save my file to something that his pc will automatically open with word?

You literally right click and press open with..

Tell him to open word first, then in word go to File>open (ctrl + o)  and point to the file from word is another option.

...your friend doesnt know how to right click and select something that says "open with"? Is your friend illiterate by chance? or have a broken mouse? Is he a potato?

Windows should have another text program than notepad which works better.

Save the file extension to.docx and all should be well. 

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

You can rename/change .txt to almost any other extension. Only .xls won't work right because how Excel sees dividers. Instead you use .csv and while importing select which divider is used. I know this is beside the point :) Any text document format will work but it won't have any fancy editing included. Only font and font size.
