Here's a list of my parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9KNmK8

  • The parts I'm buying are the three 4K monitors. Budget: 1.6k
  • The rest of the parts are being bought by someone else for me. Budget: $3.2k

Notes:

- I'm only going to be gaming on the middle monitor. So not all of the three monitors are going to be used for gaming at once.

- The two side monitors are going to be for Skype, browser(s), TS3, etc. while I'm gaming on the middle monitor.

- All three monitors will be VESA mounted.

- The 2x 500GB 850 EVOs will be in RAID 0.

Main question:

- Will the two 980s be able to run the three 4K monitors? (see how I'm going to be using the monitors above).

Thanks for your help, any suggestions will help out a lot!

I wouldn't recommend the peripherals you chose. Other then that it looks good. If you're only going to game on a single 4K monitor you should be fine.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Whatever it might be (I didn't bother looking), for 5k $, it is NOT worth the price.

If you want to run triple 4K for anything worthwhile, not just gaming (why do you even want to?), dual 980s isn't going to cut it.

Edit: Also, where are your mass storage drives?

Titan X is even more a waste of money, IMO... the performance isn't going to justify the price.

It's not that 5 grand builds aren't worth it... but this is a lot of money put the wrong places.

$5000 is a lot to spend on a pc.

This is a bit cheaper and has 2 x 1440p Monitors and a 28" 4K G-Sync Monitor for gaming on. You could go with 1080p for the outer Monitors if you are only using them for Skype/Internet etc.

At the end of the day it is your money to spend how you want so I am not going to preach to you.

This rig is a mess.... and you will never run 3 4K monitors. The GPUs are just not powerful enough right now.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

The op is only gaming on 1 of the monitors.

Doesn't matter. Unless he is going to turn off the other 2 monitors, he is going to have a horrible time trying to run 3 4K monitors WELL running a game.

Why do I need mass storage drives? I already have 1TB of SSD..

It's a gaming PC... games are pretty large, some up to 80gb each... that'll fill quick

No He isn't. You can still have the other two screens enabled. If He is only gaming on one of the screens then it will be fine.

Instead of RAID 0, a single 1TB drive will provide very similar performance when used as a system drive - Samsung MZ-75E1T0B/AM.

When buying 4 sticks of memory at the same time get a single 4x kit. This guarantees dual channel memory operation at the advertised speed and timings. Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory

The monitors come with DP - miniDP cables.

Windows 8.1 will have a longer supported lifetime and is less expensive.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
