Like other have said, according to the leaked benchmarks, it should be around 20-30% faster, maybe even more in gaming.

If you have a choice, return the 980 and get a Titan X.

Why not?

because for one, there is a 100% price diffrence for less than a 100% performance boost, and the titan x isnt really made for gaming

Titans aren't really gaming cards, they're Quadros that got Geforce drivers so they can game. They're more or less made for people (content creators) who don't want to buy two (or more) GPUs to do work like 3D modeling or video editing and still be able to play games. Your better off buy another GTX 980 unless of course your using professional applications.

It will play games better than the GTX 980.

Sure, but the price to performance doesn't justify buying it if all your doing is gaming, you could buy another GTX 980 and get much better performance.

So?

You dont NEED it unless youre trying to play with three 4k screens in surround.

Just because its the best in the world doesnt mean you need to buy it. Impulse buying is a really bad habit. You need to get your priorities straight, not just having the latest GPU in your PC.

The best GPU I have ever had is a GT 640.

Technically. They have geforce drivers to help with 3D development/ no driver certification. It's made as a better card to create the games.

I know but it's far too late at night for me to explain that in anyway that would make any sense, I'm lucky I got the previous post out fairly well. ;)

Very good arguments on this thread and even other sites on whether to purchase or not to purchase the new Titan X.

It's simple. It comes down to MONEY!!!

The Titan X is a cool looking piece of tech and I myself would love to own one to just fiddle around with and experience.

My personal opinion is that it's not primarily a gaming focused product but more of a content creation gpu.

Doesn't mean I don't want 4 of them to play Crysis 7 on l337 3x Surround Curved 4k super IPS 2000ghz no bezel FreeGsync monitors!!!!

Haha.. Seriously though, if you're the more financially stable type and have a decent amount if disposable income. I think the Titan X would be a nice toy to own.
