-Snipe-

I have no knowledge of the program you speak of, but as a user of Sony Vegas Pro - your rig is more than fine for video editing.

I have a 4670k, 8GB RAM, and a radeon 6950. Very much in the ballpark of your rig and I have no performance issues with video editing.

Start with free / cheap programs to test the waters using whatever footage you want: game footage, stock footage, vlogs, etc. The important thing is to use what you have on hand, even if it happens to be a cell phone camera and free software, to learn the concepts (most of which are the same between programs) so you don't end up blowing $500 on something that you might use for three weeks and never touch again.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

Look at some pretty famous VFX/video editors on YouTube such as Niko and Sam (https://www.youtube.com/user/samandniko)%C2'> Freddie W, they're amazing editors and have tutorials on their channel. Also, if you're still in highschool take the offered CAD program, it helps a bit. As for footage... well it's up to your imagination the possibilities are endless.

The simplest way is to rip existing movies and try to cut them into a coherent story. For example cutting a trilogy into a 90 minute movie (might be a bigger project for when youre ready to tackle a bigger project). Could also make trailers based on whatever footage you could get your hands on. There are also tutorials for editing on Adobe, Lynda, and youtube.
