you need to have all monitors plugged into the top GPU for surround

I never said anything about surround, I'm talking about having multiple cards in the same system, with different monitors connected to each card, without having the cards in CF/SLI.

(Mon1 <-> GPU1, Mon2 <-> GPU2, etc..)

Would each monitor still receive video? I'm guessing that they would, and if you played a game on that specific monitor it would utilize only the GPU connected to the monitor. if that is true, What would happen if you were to run a game in windowed mode, but have it expand over all the monitors? would each GPU only have to process the content of the game that is on the monitor connected?

(I'm confusing myself with this lol, I'd try it out, but only have 1 GPU and 1 monitor...)
