so im thinking of getting my first desktop what card can run 1440p gta v at 60fps consistant?

290x or GTX 980 probably could do it, maybe.

No clue, I'd guess the 970 should do decently, maybe the 980 or 2x 970s?

780 970 290 290x 780ti 980. I imagine those are the only current cards that would be able to manage a task like that. But nobody knows for sure.

These are the system requirments off of Rockstars website (They are almost 2 months old though so they are subject to change)

So as long as you get something about a GTX 660/Radeon 7870 (Such as a 960/970 or 280X/290) you will likely be able to run it very well.
