Ran across this petition for the white house and could not agree more. I signed it in hopes of it happening hopefully others feel the pain. Don't agree with it. Schools don't allow you access to certain websites because they would be held liable for any implications that would have (or so is claimed) to have had on you, whether or not your parents allow you to access them at home. I've personally never been slowed down when using the internet at college due to filtering software... 

 

Filters do more good than they do harm.

and Im in school. Just no. the computers are abused phyiscally enough. The last thing I need is not being able to work because its full of viruses. 

Maybe stop the downloads? Or you know, just use a sandbox

I work for my high school, and kinda agree, some things on there need to be filtered out like pr0n, but the level of filtering that some schools put in is just crazy.

Tried to pull that last year...Yeah school caught me. Luckily I didn't get in trouble for it. It said "using proxying service, contacting administration" when I loaded TOR from my phone's internal storage. Got the biggest scare in my life.

This website is blocked at the other college I go to for my minor classes. No LTT there when i'm waiting around for 2 hour in between my classes. Also, any decently managed computer system will have a frozen state. Each night all the drives should be wiped and restored to a previous state, that way you can download all the viruses in the world, each night it will still be just like new. The reason you've never been slowed down is most likely because of that.

 

If anything filtering slows search engines and website loading down.

My school system only block distracting sites such as Youtube and Social Media, and that's all.

 

I support the filtering in the school because some of the stupid crap that some kids open up on their phones are the same things they're going to try and use on the PCs in the school on the network

 

The last thing i need at school is more distractions by having freedom on the computers.

our private school does not use filtering and it is terrible, they are getting it soon, a 12 yr old girl I knew watched brother-sister p{}r|\|, she also got caught in the bathroom for having sex with her cousin. ewwww
