Doubled my RAM, what difference will I feel?

Will I get more frames in Minecraft (my own server) once I double my ram? Before I borrowed a stick of 4gb then now that I bought my own, I have a total of 8gb will I see a big gain in fps

*sigh*

no.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

nope.

You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

RAM doesn't contribute to speed, only how much "stuff" you can run at once(basically, assuming the CPU can handle the load). So, you won't see any benefit, unless if you had other programs hogging memory.

If you mean you've upgraded the machine on which you play, you may notice better responsiveness from previously intensive tasks but only if it was due to RAM swap out. With Windows 7 and up 8GB will give you a great experience and is more than enough for an everyday user or even a gamer.

With minecraft you're unlikely to notice much unless you run a lot of mods or are also hosting the server from the computer you are playing on. It's not common to notice FPS increase from RAM quantity increases unless you're bogging down your RAM as mentioned with mods and such.

A better GPU and/or CPU for FPS, even if you have a cheap graphics card buy another cheap one which has more memory on it VRAM.

I hope that helps.

Everything will run much smoother when a lot applications are running (like having multiple programs and a game open or something)

You may notice a bit of a difference on MC, since it just relies on your RAM and CPU to run, unless you have a shader pack.

If you are hosting a server then it means you can have larger worlds and more player slots. Other than that, not much else.

Yes you will feel a difference.....in your WALLET! It will feel lighter hehe

No but seriously more ram is like hyperthreading you will see difference in curtain applications, and computing situations.

nope.

the difference is what you won't feel

when you have 29 and a half tabs open in chrome you won't have your computer slowing down on you.

To illustrate some real world use benefits you should look at resource monitor and navigate to the memory tab.

There you can see a bar at the bottom showing how the RAM is being used, I've done nothing but browse the net listening to youtube recently and you can see in the image below I've used ~2.5Gb and have almost 1.5GB on standby, providing better system responsiveness.

That would have been your 4GB used although the standby memory can be reassigned without issue the system will feel more responsive if you've got room in RAM for caching.

I hope I'm not repeating, but I though the image would add a nice visual to the subject.

upgrading ram simply means you can run more and memory eating apps better without slowing down your machine.other than that you may not feel any difference while simple web browsing and listening to music or editing word.
