GTX 960 vs R9 280

Since I had forgot about V-Ram, I would go for 280.

 

Only reason at this point to go with a 960 is if you have less than 500w.

I think that a 450w would suffice, 400 is a bit too tight.

280 is a beast, although it is at it's end of life and will not be rebranded into the 300 series. Even still, its a competitor to the 770, with 50% more VRam, so still a ballin' card.  http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1332?vs=1037

Proud owner of a R9 280 MSI here. It's a great card, really glad I didn't go for the GTX 960. 

That extra GB of VRAM can be important in the future. So I'd definitely go for the 280.
