Hi!

I want to be some sort of reviewer, not just some random youtuber but rather to start my own blog. I'm not doing this for money but more for the fun and experience.

First of all, I live in a small country (Slovenia). No bigger company like corsair, nzxt, razer or such have their Slovenian websites so I think such companies are excluded for me? But razer does ship to Slovenia from its official store so maybe I would have a better shot with them?

So how do I start out? I know how to make my blog but do I just simply e-mail e.g. razer and say "hey I'm making my own blog. Wanna send me some free stuff? I don't have any audience yet but yolo." or what?

Thanks

Start making videos. If they are good and different, and you are someone they want to sponsor, they will. Keep in mind that they have a LOT of people who do the same thing, so be different, and if people are watching, so are the companies.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Thought about it but what can i review? My razer electras (which nobody buyes anymore), the enthoo pro (that could be an option) and my other pc parts? Because thats all I have except my goliathus mousemat and cm quickfire keyboard. And I think that companies get loads of such requests and why would they give anything to me if i don't have any or a little subscribers?

Edit: my pc specs aren't anything special and nothing is new

Well, it will be hard to convince them to send you stuff if you don't have an audience.. But yeah, that's how it works.

Try to first review stuff you have or buy and later get sponsored.

(once again, companies will not sponsor someone who gets 5 views on YouTube)

Who cares if nobody buys them anymore?

People still watch reviews for them.

True. But how can I get more subs? From when I looked at the enthoo pro and my mech KB only videos I watched were from linus and other big channels (all videos had AT LEAST 100k+ views and were the first ones to come up when I searched for something). So why would somebody watch my video? I'll be shadowed by bigger channels

Social networking, share to your friends, etc. If they like it, they'll send it on further, and it's exponential based on who enjoys your content. Like I said, though.. if it's not anything new, it won't be watched. LTT, MKBHD, Austin Evans, Unbox Therapy, Tech of Tomorrow, DetroitBorg, etc all just started making videos in their own way. Do that, and if people like it, they'll watch.

Tag your videos correctly. Be better at something (like camera work or knowledge about switches in the review or whatever).

Have good thumbnails.

Your main goal should not be subscribers. That's the biggest mistake you can make.

Make your videos purely for fun and subscribers will come later.

Review every darn thing that you own. I have over 250,000 views on one of my iPod Touch unboxings, but a mere 20 views on some of my other videos. Just review as much as you can, and that along with clean editing, and you'll make it there eventually,

Go through some of the stuff you already own and make videos of those to start off with. It will give you experience behind the camera, as well as editing.

After that you can look into buying new products to review, to later sell them off once you are done. This is how a lot of people start out.

Well there are a few different options:

1. Start working at a pc store and convince them you can review pc parts they have in stock (Like how linus started).

2. Review everything you own and buy and try to build a viewerbase like that.

3. Buy stuff to review and sell it immediately afterwards to minimize losses

And then try to establish a viewerbase that is sufficiently large (1000+ viewers) and ask nicely for review samples in an email where you promote yourself (blablabla I have 5000 followers blablabla your product will get this amount of exposure blablabla my followers demographic is this and fits your target audience because blablabla...).

But be prepared to spend a lot of effort and time on editing and promotion. Also don't expect review samples in the first year or so (unless you are extremely succesfull).
