linux incompetence is killing me, help

my friends, well more like a-holes i occasionally hang out with, make fun of my linux incompetence because i spend my time doing repairs on windows and osx.

any helpful links or guides you guys have to help me not look like a fool? it took me 4 hours to get openvpn to successfully work on ubuntu. looks like my biggest fault is not knowing linux commands worth a damn. for the most part i use GUIs for everything i can, and its coming back to bite me

anything you guys can muster will help

Don't worry about mastering the terminal/shell (unless you really whan't to) learn the basic commands

and if you then need help with a special problem ask the forums of that distro

you are using. Fixing problems via terminal can easily become very

complicated and even a skilled linux user often needs help from those

who have had issues with that special problem before.

And nothing wrong to do things via GUI tools, now days there is a GUI for

almost everyting, but sometimes terminal is still needed.

Heres couple links to commands.
