Yes , I upgraded from a 5850 which is very VERY to a hd 5870 similar to a 270x and the difference is more than double.

Dont get a 270x tho , its bad value.

Get a r9 280 instead,

IDK, the 5870 was a beastly card 5-6 years ago.  270X is a lower mid-range card.  Jump to a 290.

I have (in an older PC) 2 5850's, the 5870 was much better than the 5850.

It will be noticeable. But you should get an R9 280 since it's a better deal.

Thing is i don't want to spend a lot of money. I don't really need ultra performance. I just want to play Far Cry 4 on very high and coming GTA V with quite good performance. 60FPS totally not needed.

Get a r9 270 then for cheap.

If you are wondering to see how the card performs here is a list of benchmarks i did with my 270x

Very good performer , keep in mind every game is utterly maxed out.

I heard that there is no problem with overclocking MSI 270 to 270x specs. True?

Depends on the silicon lo terry but its possible.

This is true most of the time.

What are the rest of your system specs?

Yes

So you can go up to a 290.  Now it is just your budget.  $180 gets you a R9 280, assuming you are in the USA.  Below that, go for a 270 and oc it.

I went from a 5850 to a R9 280,  15-20 fps in Crysis 2 (maxed, high res. texture pack), to 70+... 95% of the game.  It sometimes dipped below 70.
