Yeah going to the 970 from a 780 doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

 Either get another 780 or hang on for another GPU launch honestly.

Greetings Everyone!

 

I'd like to ask for your assistance, please. I'm all out of ideas and I'm not that big of a computerbuilder. I hope I didn't post this topic into the wrong section. :mellow:

 

My rig:

  • CPU: Intel i5 3570K 3,4 GHz
  • MB: MSI Mpower Mz77 BigBang Edition
  • RAM: Kingston 8GB HyperX Beast DDR3 2400MHz
  • PSU: Zalman 600W
  • VGA (current): Gigabyte GTX780 OC 3GB Rev2.0
  • Casing: CollerMaster CM 690 II
  • HD: Samsung 180GB SSD // WesternDigital 1TB 7200

 

My questions:

  • I'm wondering if a GTX970 would be an "overkill" for my current build if I wanted to play the latest games on 1080p (possibly on maximum settings)?
  • Does this configuration contain any products which causes a "bottleneck" effect?
  • What VGA would you suggest other than the current one?

If you want an upgrade, get another 780. The 970 is a little faster than the 780, but not by that much.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.
