Can someone please explain what the hype with half life 3 is? ive never played any of the series, but people seem to kill for episode 3.

 

anyone care to explain?

Half Life is a series made by Valve (from our lord and savior GabeN). The series never really got an end however, the last release in the series is from 2007 and ends with a cliffhanger.

There is a huge connection between half life and portal. Prtal is pretty much done. But half life has a huge hole in the story. Woch connects both stories. There is no end. Thats why there is the need of a sequel

Gaben is a knob jockey who is taking his sweet time to make/release the possibly final game in the series which got his company to where it is today.

Half Life was pretty mediocre anyway.

Hmm... But why wont Gaben make episode 3?

 

He doesnt want money?

To put it on. A easy way. Its marketing. Valve will wait for te half lifw hype to go down befor doing anything. Otherwise, they will lose the whole hype they have created and interest in them. Yes there is still steam. But a lot of it was based around half life, l4d and portal

they have enough money regardless. And Valve doesn't have shareholders and publisher telling them to release by x date to maximize profits.

The Internet has turned Half life into a cult thing. Expectations are a bit unreasonable and it won't be considered satisfactory for valve to just release a good solid game. People expect it to be something revolutionary. So despite ongoing development valve feels that it's not worth putting it out until they have something new to offer.

I dont really find these thins funny anymore :/

 

They were funny for the first couple of months or so but now it's just got stupid

 

But yeah, thats just my opinion

it hasnt bveen funny since 2008

play the games!! they'll explain it for you!

well it may not be as magical 10 year after it was out (half life 2 still looks amazing though)

half life 1 was the reason I wanted a gaming pc, as none of my pcs could play it. I finally did and it was so far ahead of anything at the time.

half life 2 comes along and smashes everything else out the ball park. it looked amazing, a well scripted story and a world that was alive with real physics. things reacted like they should in a world.

the reason people want EP 3 is because episode 2 just ended and there left things unanswered.

and as its been 10 years since one of valves most successful games people kinda want another version!

I consider the Half-Life series above average to good, but nothing to warrant this internet cult worship circlejerk and bad repetitive jokes.
