Why has DDR3 ram just been shooting up in price? Just a few months ago 8GB 1600 was $40 now its 60-70

Is it because DDR4 is coming out soon?

And what will DDR4 bring to the table?

I've read an article on Tom's Hardware, but I cant seem to find the link... :(

no i think it was because something is happening in the NAND market

I just remembered why VGA card prices were increasing for a bit... It was because of the increase in RAM pricing. O.O

That makes a lot of since. Do yo think the prices will ever go back down or will it be like gas and just keep going up and up?

It'll go down one day... Maybe when DDR4 comes out, DDR3 will go on a CRAZY sale, and when DDR4 becomes the standard, it will go up like the gas prices have been, because all the manufactures are focusing on DDR4.

just before ddr3 came out ddr2 prices skyrocketed too, maybe ddr4 comes?

it was overstocked so they had to sell it, so lower prices

they are moving toward mobile market

any of theese reasons could be the cause

Supply and demand maybe? More stock, less people want it = Lower prices. Less stock, more people want it = Higher prices? I think DDR2 prices skyrocketed because more people wanted DDR3, instead of the old standard. How expensive was the average 8gb kit of ram back then when DDR3 just launched?

DDR4 Will be happen in the Haswell-E generation of chips , but it'll take a while because Ivy-E isn't even out so we have to wait 2 Generations...

We may see Haswell-E in 2015, there is some news that Intel are having trouble with the 14nm process.

My PC specs; Processor: Intel i5 2500K @4.6GHz, Graphics card: Sapphire AMD R9 Nano 4GB DD Overclocked @1050MHz Core and 550 MHz Memory. I know, Broadwell has been pushed to 2015 as well. Gutted really i was going to wait for them to come out next year but will have to build a Haswell rig for gaming and give my old rig to my brother.
