Would you reccomend the Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer memory? Linus is using it in his personal build but says he doesn't recommend it. Why is that and why should I not consider getting it? I plan on getting 16gb (2x8gb) @1866MHz of it. (Mostly for asthetics but I also want a ram upgrade. Money isn't an issue.)

Wishing leads to ambition and ambition leads to motivation and motivation leads to me building an illegal rocket ship in my backyard.

Probably doesnt reccomend it because of its price. Otherwise, it's damn good and flashy memory. If money is no matter, Corsair Dominator Platinums are REALLY PRETTY.

In terms of performance all RAM is the same.... so the price difference from the cheapest to the most expensive RAM kit of the same speed is brand name and aesthetics

Not sure why he wouldn't recommend it, perhaps due to the higher cost compared to other options.

I myself have Kingston Hyperx Fury Black 8GB (2x4GB), have had no problem at all with it, and its short enough that there should be no conflicts with air coolers if you chose to use one over a watercooler.

But in general, ram is ram.

I know. It was between this or Dominator Platinums. But I'm preferring this because I want a "light show" in my case instead of all still lights. Im still considering dominator but if there is any ram that has dynamic effects like crucial please reccomend me some. Also the crucial ram is quite cheap.

Yeah it's good but I think Corsair's dominator platinum looks SO SO good! It's beatiful and clean too, so personally I'd go with that, but if you have a flashy build, get the flashy Crucial ram:)

Because I can only take up two slots on my mobo. It doesn't support quad channel. Also, I'm putting this ram into another build and I wanted something flashy.

If there are 4 slots, you can still put 4 dimms in even if the mobo only supports dual channel.

My cpu only supports dual channel. Why would I buy more ram if I wouldn't be able to use it? Or would it run as 2 separate dual channels. For example if I added two 2x4gb kits, it would give me 16gb of ram but run both kits in dual channel. Correct?

I own the tactical tracers. They perform well, look awesome, and can be adjusted via the downloadable software through crucial's website. You can even turn them off if you dont feel like looking at them, though i dont know why you'd want to :P. I say go for it.

It would run separate, like if there are 2 blue slots and 2 black slots (example), the two dimms in the blue slots would run in dual channel, and the two dimms in the black slots would run in dual channel.

Yes but would it still show as show as 16gb? Even if it's two 2x4gb kits
