Wrong, it is just like a standard Linux OS with Steam Big Picture as a default screen. One can still return to the desktop and use any Linux applications.

I'm pretty sure it's supports the XBOX 360 controller since there is a 360 version of MC. So the PC controller should work.

Thats why I said 99% as I wasn't completely sure.

Alright, though I doubt he will be able to use a controller with it without some 3rd party tool.

not at all, it's a Ubuntu based OS, with added steam funtionality and skin.

Yes you can play minecraft, but try getting the 64 bit Oracle Java instead of Open Java, it runs faster that way.

There are mods for controller support, although I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Step 1. Make sure Java is installed

Step 2. Download the .jar launcher from minecraft.net

Step 3. Run it once, then copy all of the files across from the copy in Windows

Step 4 Use the .jar launcher every time to play Minecraft, with the need to re-install mods.

That's different, I'm not sure how Steam OS handles games, but in Windows it does let you add other non Steam games to the Steam interface (you only need to select the .exe). Since its Linux based however, I'm not sure if it will handle .jar files in the same manner.

I don't know about controllers, but its Linux so there has to be some kind of hack for it.

There is, actually. I use QJoypad to map controller actions to keyboard and mouse actions.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.
