Convince my sister not to get a mac !!

Go to solution Solved by Dudenstein,

What's wrong with the Mac Air? it's a great ultra portable with a killer battery life. It's on my watch list on when I buy an ultrabook style laptop

I need to convince my sister not to take an apple Mac air HELP !!!

I am located in Montreal,Quebec,Canada. My sister is interested in ultrabook or small macs (Under 14 inches) She has a budget of 1 200 canadian dollars. She only use the computer to do web browsing and listen to music (for university), Her laptop must have style ! Kinda the Macbook or aluminium style.

By the way, sorry for the bad english, it's my 2nd language and I'm in a hurry :)

Thanks in advance !

Yeah I'm with the above. For battery life it's brilliant. It suits her needs perfectly. ITunes from personal experience runs better on OSX than on Windows which no doubt is what she will be using for music.

Why? The Macbook Air is actually a great choice, and is better than many ultrabooks at the same price point. It has amazing battery life, looks great, and has a new PCI-e ssd, so you get insanely fast read speeds. If she needs windows, you can always use something like Parallels or Boot Camp, but still get all the benefits of having a Macbook Air.

I actually got a macbook pro 13 inch last year, threw a OCZ Vertex 3 in it with windows 7 and I love it! Macs are a bit overpriced sometimes, but people really undervalue them, they are built very well, and have a lot of top notch features such as good batteries and portability.

A lot of times I would argue against a mac but it seems to be a good fit in her situation

Honestly at that price point, I don't think anything comes close to the MacBook Air.

Macs are the best for her needs... The only time you would not choose a mac is if you want to game. That's why I have a macbook pro and the rig in my signature.

I like how this community does not automatically trashes apple products. :)

The new 2013 Macbook Airs are a decent option if you need an all-day, portable device and are accustomed to using OSX.

Yeah the mac seems fine for her but she always could get the Acer S7.

Agreed with everyone else here. The only devices I'm aware of that would be better also cost considerably more.

Have to say, it's refreshing to be on a forum where Apple devices can be discussed without everyone hating on them. :D LTT forever.

Probably too late now, but another great option for this category is lenovo's IdeaPad Yoga.  It's very well made (better than any ThinkPad I've owned), and also gets great battery life,... screen is IPS, comes standard with a 128 or 256GB ssd, and it's $200 cheaper than the MBAir.  Only problem is that they haven't refreshed it with Haswell.
