Hey guys,

I want to build a cheap office Pc for around 140€.

I have a case and Power supply.

I thought of o 60 GB SanDisk SSD and 4GB cheap Crucial RAM.

But my question is should i get a Intel or AMD cpu.

My two choices are:

Intel Celeron G1820

ASRock H81M-VG4

or:

AMD A4 6300

ASRock FM2A58M-VG3+

What do you think what is better, both would cost nearly the same,

but I am not sure what I should take.

Lower heat output(so quieter operation), lower power consumption, higher performance, and better aftermarket support.

this, and also you have an upgrade path to some much better processors if you find you need more performance in the future (i3, i5 or i7 will all work on this motherboard) so you could totaly drop a i5-4590 and a GTX 980 in that machine for example with a good powersupply and get a very high end gaming PC out of it...but yeah the intel is the way to go...mostly due to stronger cores and lower power consumption.

Do you need any 3d rendering horsepower? cause that's where the AMD is a little bit stronger is the integrated graphics from this APU can deliver better 3d animations and graphics if you need it?

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

i would go with an apu from AMD, people are crazy fanboy over intel these days what he is going to buy is an office pc not a powerhouse beast of a pc. we need to look at the facts and not what other people. yes intel is stronger and more powerfull even in prise to performense but just because of that dose not mean that the lower end stuff is folowing that same road. so there is no need to go and say intel just because of that

AMD, because an office user needs more cores and a low price

that APU is only a dual core and office applications run fine on the Celeron

and do note the APU draw more power just for the chip itself

office PC may run 24/7 and power bills saving counts

and especially for multiple PCs..good thing OP is thinking just for one rig..

i have seen 300watt psu's for celeron PCs (slims)...are there any for the AMD counterpart?

if you are counting the AM1 5350

it wont draw a lot of power and can be powered by the external power brick

The APU draws a little bit more power, but that its no big deal the PC would run just a few hours on 3 to 4 days a week.

I am more interested in what gives me better overal Performance i think the APU has a slightly better graphic chip but the Celeron has a better CPU performance.

However I am not sure what is better for a simple office and media PC.

NO, they are NOT that bad, especially on a budget, for office use. Although, a Pentium would be a bit better. And besides, the upgrade path is stellar

Why should it suck after 2 years. The PC i want to build is just for surfing the internet and watching youtube or print something.

I don´t think that these two CPUs are to slow even in 3-5 years.

The celeron my dad put in my old machine, it's 6 years old at this point, at 3 years old it was practically unusable, it was just that slow. I fucking hate celerons so much

Or should i choose a AMD Sempron 2650 or 3850. How do they compete. I think they should have enough power.

If you're considering them, why not the A4-5000 I linked to above? It's quad core with a higher clock speed then the 3850 and has better graphics too. 15W TDP also.

Or something like this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157513. It even has turbo for heavy single thread that bumps it up to a 2.4Ghz clock speed (though the graphic are almost certainly lower performing then the AMD APU).

If you're going for really low budget, and power comsuption, a all in one (CPU/board) might be your best solution. There's no upgrade path, but then if you're not looking to upgrade it, which it doesn't sound like you are, then who cares.

EDIT: This one probably be a better match with 2 SATA 3's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157495

Not sure on the availability in Germany, but in the states we can pick up used Dell Optiplex 9xx's w/core 2 quad's for less than $150. Every single damn one of them has been used in an office for a few years. Corporations roll over entire fleets of them every couple years so you can get them for ridiculously cheap.

I work in an IT department and all of our computers are frankenstein'd Optiplex's that have been retrofitted with various RAM/CPU/MOBO upgrades that get tossed down to us from other departments. If all you want is a simple office computer, this is likely the cheapest option...and yes, they're all Intel. I haven't seen an AMD based enterprise office PC for at least 8 years. You want to choose the chipset based on parts availability, and AMD is likely not going to have the second-hand parts sourcing of Intel.

Meh you can get bad chips in any class. I've seen celerons run for 8+ years without issues.

That being said, I would probably grab a pentium :P
