Go down to your local computer store and pick a keyboard and mouse that feel good in your hands.  If you just want something cheap, anything in the $20 to $30 will be fine for a keyboard.  If you are gaming, get a good quality gaming mouse.  lots to chose from, take your pick.  I use a Steel Series Rival, which is great for big hands.  can't go wrong with a Razer Death adder either.

I could get a cheap budle and upgrade over time...

I would suggest that you spend more money on the mouse rather than the keyboard as most people would. Buy a Logitech G100s and then go to Goodwill or something and find an old keyboard. Eventually you'll be able to get a better keyboard. But for gaming, the mouse of the two is more important.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Ya, mouse should be priority in gaming vs a keyboard mechanical or not because the mouse is where yo uare actually making your movements and it makes a greater impact your gameplay vs a keyboard.
