Hey guys!

A week or two ago my FX-8320 stopped working so after contacting AMD support I sen't it to the Netherlands in the hopes that the warranty would cover it (I live in Europe)

Earlier today their DHL service delivered a new CPU to me, but to my surprise, it was a FX-8350 !!

I know there's not so much of a difference, but still, I am very thankful for AMD to do this for free. I've read online about people that were offered either the same CPU or a different version, but never something actually better !

Has this ever happened to anyone else? What's your experience with hardware warranties ?

[sorry for my english]

No its normal for AMD. I broke my 8150 once, and I got a 8350. Because the difference is just architecture and one is being more produced then others. AMD gives it just to be generous.

And this happened to me once.

Sometimes it happens when they're out of stock with the exact model. Or maybe the guy filling the box wasn't paying attention ^^

I've seen EVGA send gtx 980s instead of an 780ti

That's likely because 780tis are out of production and they either just don't have any left or the ones they have are the faulty or sub-par samples. The last thing they want to do is replace a faulty card with another faulty card.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Nah, it's a difference in clockspeed. You can overclock an 8320 to the speed of an 8350 and it'll beat it by a small margin.

If you're talking about 8320 vs 8350, then yes, it's purely a clockspeed difference, however, 8150 vs 8350 is an IPC improvement, not just clock speed.

I think this forum is way too agressive some times.

I remember a case where a newbie posted a video he liked and everybody jumped on him like he was hitler.

I've seen EVGA send gtx 980s instead of an 780ti

This isn't new because the 980 is the successor to the 780Ti. If you send them an unrepairable 780Ti and they have no others to replace it with since they're out of production, they will send a 980 as a replacement.

some people are jackasses, but every forum has them. Just one of those things.

Those of us that are long-time regulars on this forum will usually help sort it out for the OP if they get unnecessary flak for something. You're right though, it does get a bit excessive.

Yeah some people take things way too seriously on this forum and it irks me off.

Those guys , i have no words , to attack a guy with like 50 posts that had no idea what he was doing probably.

Its not like he breached a rule of COC or something , and the video is on offtopic.

Yeah that must be the case! Production of 8350 must be higher since its a bit more popular nowadays

Wierd thing about this new CPU is that if I overclock it, it works okay on normal programs but makes games stutter a lot.

With TF2 for example it goes at 120fps but goes down to 3 or 4 each second or tho wich makes the game "jumpy"  and  almost unplayable

I'm overclocking it with the AMD Catalyst Control Center utility btw

I've seen AMD turn a blind eye to voided warranties even.

Their customer base is so small, they try really hard to keep it intact.
