Yesterday I build my first pc, had no problems at all since about 2 hours ago.

I'm hearing a high pitch noise coming from my pc ( not sure if it's my gpu or psu ) I've tried enabling v-sinc didn't do anything.

Is there any solution to this problem, it sounds alot like this ( starts at around 0:16 )

but alot louder.

hmm.. If you have the chance to either put in another GPU or take your current GPU into another system, then you could try that.

The problem is that you might not draw enough power for the PSU to whine if you take out the GPU and only use the GPU from the i5 cpu.. :/

use integrated graphics, if theres no coil whine then its the GPU, but im guessing its the PSU

I dont think he can be sure about that, the cpu alone might not pull enough power to make the PSU whine if it is indeed the PSU whining..

Burn-in your gpu with some high frame rates. Maybe the Crysis 2 loading screen? There's also something called Triangle of Death, something like 15K fps..

Oh I know, the "mobile" benchmark from the new 3DMark, run that in a loop for a few hours.

...Buy headphones.

This. Sadly there's no way to 100% get rid of coil whine.  Manufacturers also usually don't warrenty on coil whine either, unless it's PSU or an extreme case.

EDIT: Use a paper towel roll to listen to each component, that will help identify the culprit

What does burning in your gpu do, something to do with thermal paste?

I would recommend getting music, blast the hell out of it and goodbye noise, this is one of the main reasons as to why for me silencing cases are pointless. Aggresive cases for the win.

Well, yeah, it does help the thermal paste set.

It's to burn in the inductors. Inductors make coil whine because they vibrate between something like 10kHz and 100kHz. The part you hear is anywhere up to 25kHz. Soooo.... Try overclocking and overvolting the video card. Change the amount of power the vid card has to draw, that will force faster 'switching', making the coil whine higher pitched to where you can't hear it. Right? Should...

This is a good idea

To determine if its the GPU, when it does the coil whine, try overclocking or underclocking it.

Example: when i fold on my 680 and i oc it, the coil whine is higher, whereas when i underclock, its more low pitch. So if yours changes when you do that, itll be the gpu
