So. Would it be worth it to sell a 970 at near full price and pay the upgrade premium to get a 980 given the news with the .5 GB Vram issue with the 970? I only know a little bit about the issue, but it irks me that I bought a 970 not knowing that 3.5GB of vram are hyperspeed, but the other .5GB are slow AF. I'm also assuming the 980 doesn't have this vram problem? Also, is there a solution to the vram issue?

There is no solution its just a physical hardware thing

The 970 still performs at like 85% of the 980 for like half the cost and is still a great card for the money, 99% of most games do not exceed 3.5gb VRAM even at 1440p and 4k so its not a massive issue

For 1080p and 1440p the 970 is still a great value card

It's entirely up to you. From my understanding the GTX 980 doesn't have this problem, no. :)

There is currently no solution to this hardware wise. They can do some driver optimizations, but thats about it till a 970Ti perhaps. If you;re doing 1080p gaming For now I don;t think it will affect, 1440p maybe too. I'm kinda concerned with the future and future games vram usage tho, alot of games as of late have been eating vram.

In the end if you;re happy with it's current performance I guess It's fine, esp if you already gotten it and am gaming in 1080.

I do already have the 970, but I'm planning on getting a 4k monitor in the future, which is why I'm kind of concerned. The 970 has decent performance at 4k, but a 980 has the edge on 4k. I'm just not sure what I should go for...

it's still a 970 card man , nothings changed it still performs the same as it did on release date, it's a 970 , not a 980 , so can't really blame

Np, absolutely not. The 980 is in no way worth almost 300$ more than a 970. Keep what you have. If you ever get issues with the memory "bug", just upgrade to another card in that price range, by then we'll have much better gpus than the 980 for 300$.

No real solution really, just MAke a decision and stick to it? You can;t ask someone here, because there will always be two sides of the coin, just make a decision and be happy with it. :> thats the best advise i can muster before a p[ossible fanboy war happens here too.
