Hi guys, this is my first build. I wanted you guys to make sure I'm not making any major screw ups or if there is any way I can squeeze more performance out of it :)

BTW if you can't tell I'm going for a blue theme with the build and I'm eventually going to SLI another 970 once the prices go down. I'm going to be using the build mainly for gaming, streaming, and virtualization. Going to add an HDD for mass storage but that's put off until I get everything up and running.

Looks pretty good, I'd personally get a Gigabyte board and Antec Formula 6, but that's more personal preference :)

I'd go with an evga board. I like customer service that actually exists.

I wouldn't worry about the thermal paste but 7 bucks, oh well.

I would personally get an EVGA PSU or a gold rated PSU.

Other than that, looks good!

Any good PSUs you could point me towards? I like the SeaSonic on because it's quiet and has all black cables but I'd love a good gold rated one.

You are overpaying for the motherboard.

I remember that board use to be ~$120, at that point it was a great deal.

Any better value mobos with good overclocking that you could recommend?

I personally own a EVGA 850W G2. Paid $150 for it, has all black cables and is gold rated hence the G2 with eco mode.

Check out some be quite! PSU's as well.

blackshades on
