Wait.... WUT?!?!? Help guys

Go to solution Solved by Speedyv,

A Hellcat Challenger might have more horsepower than a GTR but it still isn't faster around a track  ;)

Guys lets say we have a AMD FX-6300 Overclocked @ 5GHz

BUT!

Lets say we have here a I7 5960X Overclocked @ 4.5GHz

bu

bAT

BUT!

The 5960X perform WAY BETTER THAN the FX-6300

Did the frequency/Speed matters? or the something else that made the 5960X perform better.

Thanks guys for passing by! Leave the comment down below and il see ya next time (Linus mode)

Frequency/number of cores only matters when comparing within the same architecture. Something that needs to be considered is architecture/IPC (performance per clock) as well as performance per core.

An i5-4690k will beat an FX9590 in virtually all scenarios even though one is clocked at 3.4ghz with only four cores while the other is running at 5ghz on 8 cores.

Theres a reason why the 5960x (Intels 8-core cpu) is $1000 while the FX 8350 (AMDs 8-core cpu) is only $150.

Single core performance man, that and the 5960x is a $1000 processor.

i know 5960X is the best but i just put this cpu in this scenario cuz its just 4.5 compared to the 5ghz JUST COMPARAING

Hz is just a generic unit for cycles per second, it doesn't mean anything specific. A cycle on an FX-6300 core doesn't get as much stuff done as a cycle on an i7-5960X, because Intel's cores are designed in such a way that they can accomplish more calculations during each cycle than AMD's.

That literally doesnt explain jack shit, He clearly asked What makes the $1000 processor better. not it's price.

How not? A $1000 dollar CPU will always beat a ~$100 CPU

OK LET ME SUMMARIES THIS...... IS THE MORE FREQUENCY/SPEED PERFORM BETTER

SO THATS WHY I CHOSE 5960X CUZ ITS JUST 4.5GHZ BUT THE FX IS 5GHZ YES I KNOW 5960X

BUT THE  FREQUENCY/SPEED MATTER THE MOST?

Higher frequency is faster compared to another processor of the same design. If you're comparing between Intel and AMD, you can't tell which one is faster from frequency alone. There are other things that affect performance.

You can't just decide which is faster because of one piece of the puzzle.

I'm pretty sure the Oasis of the Seas (a 225,282 ton ship) with 81,000 horsepower is faster than a Porsche 911 GT3 with only 475 horsepower. Afterall the Oasis of the Seas has about 170 times as much power.

I'd gokart that engine.

Whats the point?

We all know the 5960x is better.

Theres a simple analogy that will make this easy to understand. You could compare the clockrate of a CPU with the rpm of an Engine. A 100hp engine might rev to 8000rpm just like a 1000hp engine would, except that the bigger engine puts out way more horsepower.

this is the only honest answer i see in this thread, i hate intel fanboys.

god I hate AMD fanboys.

How is every other answer in this thread not an honest answer?

It's really quite a bit more complicated than just clock speed.

It has to do with IPC, pipeline, architecture, threads etc etc.

You should only directly compare clockspeed between similar architectures.
