Why is my speaker whistling/crackling?

Shpadee
Go to solution Solved by JeffreyEagan,

Plug it into the back, front panel cable isn't sheilded and it's picking up all sorts of frequencies inside the case.

Same as title... happens to do this when nothing is playing. I have my PC volume high and am adjusting the volume on the speaker itself. It is a KRK RP5G3 plugged into my front panel audio. Thanks.

always plug your shit to directly to the motherboard because using front panel connectors can increase electrical interference

Try unplugging it from your front panel, and touching the end of the pole with your finger. It might be a buildup of static on it and I found that this happened with my speakers once in a while.

Edit: I'd also agree with the people that are saying to plug it into the back of your motherboard. If it's something like speaker that you don't need to constantly plug and unplug then don't put it in the front.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.
