128 GB or more Compatible CPU

Guest

Hi, I'm looking for the best intel processor that's compatible with 128 GB of RAM or more. Where can I find the processors of that compatibility? I'm testing the limits of some extremely heavy programs.

You'd probably be hitting into the Xeon E5 range right there.

Price isn't an issue, for now I'm just planning ahead. :)

The 'best' right now is the E5-2699 V3. It's priced at £4300. However, 18 cores may not be necessary as the SKU will heavily depend on your workload.

X99 can support 128GB of RAM.

So something like a 5820k and a mid-high end X99 board, that will do.

However, good luck finding a 128GB RAM kit. 64GB is the current maximum due to the amount of ram we can actually fit on a chip.

Compatible with Windows 95

Which is why we don't buy customer cpu for more than 64GB of ram

I had a look at the i7 5960 x but it didn't support more than 64, it still seems like a nice processor though

A Xeon E5-2603V3 will do fine, it's basically a 5820k without hyperthreading.

Compatible with Windows 95
