Der Untergang (Downfall), this is a good movie just don't watch any parody first .

Terminator 1 and 2, Terminator 3 is kind of meh, the 4th one is ok-ish.

Godzilla - Original 1954, or anything from 1984-1995, MIllenium is not very good, and don't bother with 2014, personal favorite is Godzilla vs Destroyah.

I'd go by directors

 

any thing by Kubrik, Wes Anderson, Paul Verhoeven and Terence Malik

 

Anderson does very similar feeling films but the rest of the directors vary in content.
