@JimmyCampero

I sincerely hope you're not planning to get it because it's complete and utter shite. You can get a 4790k with a z97 board for the money you need for a 9590 and a beefy as hell board

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

What you're going to do with a 10 years old 350W CPU?

^^this...the FX-9590 performs nowhere near even a lower end locked core i5-4460 CPU when it comes to gaming, and for multi-threaded task it competes with the i5-4690K...

If you need a cpu for gaming get the i5-4690K and if you need a well rounded CPU that is a beast at everything including content creation get the i7-4790K.

The AMD FX CPU's came out in 2011 and they are seriously outdated by now intel has much better performer at EVERY price range wheter it's an i3, i5 or i7 just do yourself a favor and buy an intel CPU.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

it was just curiosity, i already have an i7-3770

then, the MSI 970 gaming is a motherboard with a 6+2 power phase and good heatsink it *COULD* probably handle the FX-9590 at stock for a while provided you would have good airflow over the VRM's area...but it's not something i would recommend.

It could work for a while but the motherboard could crap on you the first day and kill the CPU...that'S why a good 8+2 990FX motherboard is required...Asrock has launched a new 970 motherboard with stronger VRM's and an 8+2 powerphase that is said to be good enough for the FX-9590, here it is (again can't stress this enough this CPU is a piece of crap and an higher number won't mean shit it's just an overclocked FX-8320 on steroid it performs the same and intel had CPU back in 2009 that outperforms this CPU in both single-threaded AND multi-threaded workloads (i7-960 for example)

  • 1 year later...

who the hell dug this up from the grave?

No, the 970 gaming does not support the 9590. It will boot it, but the VRM will bake to hell and it will give you an error in the bios.

But first, let's talk about parallel universes.

Spoiler

Intel i7-4790k undervolt, NVidia EVGA GTX 980Ti SC Reference, NVidia EVGA GTX 480 SC Reference, ASUS Z97-A/USB3.1, SK Hynix SL308 240GB, WD Green 2TB, Hynix 1333 8GB (4x2), XFX Core Pro 850w, NH-U12S, 4x NF-F12's, Sennheiser HD 558's, Blue Yeti, Corsair K70 (red), Logitech MX Master, XBox One Controller, ASUS VG248QE 144Hz, HP 2010i
