I've bought everything except the mobo and ram, i cant decide which ones to get since there are so many debates going on about them. I am really confused, so i am asking you pro's for consult. Money isnt a factor. This going to be dedicated gaming rig.

CPU: i7 5930K

GC: 2 x EVGA GTX980 SC ACX 2.0

PSI: Corsair HX850 850watt

So what should i get for a mobo and ram? And another question; can i put 8 memory sticks into a mobo without causing any problems, lets say 8x4GB rams?

You don't need that much RAM for a gaming rig, but sure. 16GB is more than enough right now. I'd go 2X8GB or 4X4G, so you can expand in the future. Not sure for mobo.

These boards are pretty good, from what I have heard.

Also, just buy a 16/32GB kit of 2133mhz/2400mhz DDR4 ram, from any trustworthy manufacturer (Kingston, Adata, HyperX, Corsair, Team, G.Skill, Crucial etc.)

16GB of RAM will be fine for gaming. I got 32GB for my editing rig and only really use more than 16GB in After Effects and big projects. For a mobo, I have the Asus X99-Deluxe. I did have to RMA it, not really sure what happened, it just died in the middle of reviewing footage and wouldn't POST after that; but aside from that, it's a great board. Lots of features, easy fan controller software, AC wireless, m.2 support on the board and comes with a PCIe m.2 card. The overclocking software is pretty decent; it got my 5930K to 4.5GHz on the first run. It's an easy way to get a baseline if you want to push it further.

It should always be a personal decision what a person buys. If someone has the money and is willing to put it down on X99, there you go enjoy :).

Do not buy dual channel RAM like 2x8GB... how can someone even recommend that on X99?!? X99 supports quad channel and 16GB RAM are fine. I use Corsair Vengeance LPX and they are just awesome.

X99 gaming rig?  Why?

Assuming OP is not trolling about buying this stuff he obviously has money to just throw away. I mean, he was gonna put 8x4 (32GB of ram) DDR4 memory into a gaming rig (LOL). I think he could care less about saving money at this point, or spending money on hardware that is far beyond gaming.

To be fair, The X99 isn't THAT expensive. I personally want it, because of its enthutiast style board, as well as its performance, and newer technology. But right now, my money and mindset says ''Get a second car''.

True, it's not "that" expensive, but if you're gonna throw in 32GB ddr4 is it gonna be lol. May as well spent that extra cash on the processor, and upgraded to more ram at a later date.

Personally, I wish I didn't go z97 custom CPU/GPU route. I wish I would have just gone x99 and SLId some 970s or 980s, even tho I don't need x99 or SLI for the games I play.

Just some questions that might help get an answer.

It's a gaming rig, so are you planning a colour scheme?

Are you planning on using an onboard M.2 SSD?

Are you planning on using a discrete sound card?

And honestly 16GB is more than enough for gaming at the moment, unless you plan to have 100 tabs opened in the background

What does a discrete soundcard has to do with that? They run in PCIe 1.0 and live of the Southbridge and not of the native PCIe lanes of your CPU. I know that there are some PCI v2.2. but usually one should prefer the PCIe 1.0 cards.

ASrock has been amazing for X99 thus far, so I would say the WS board from Asrock is a good option. $290, plenty of pcie, 12k caps, and beautiful.  The Killer boards are also good from them and as for Ram - if you're a heavy multi-tasker, gamer, watching streams or video's, etcetera.  16-24-32gb is amazing.  So, if you're a tab whore like I am, and like to multitask while gaming - go for that 32gb :P  Crucial's Ballistix DDR4 is pretty cheap for DDR4 32gb kits as well.

If OP is using a discrete sound card does he really need to fork out the extra money for a better on board solution.

Oh you mean about the board design :). I think in that way he will be fine either way. Pretty much every X99 ATX board has 3 PCIe 3.0 slots and 1 or 2 PCIe 1.0 slot(s).

It's like $800 for the CPU/Motherboard/RAM alone... you could build an entire rig for that much money.

Not that I'm one to judge since I spent $700 on just my graphics card.

Personally I love my ASUS x99E-WS. The on board audio is enough for running through TV speakers, or wireless headphones. The colour scheme is subtle, and refined. And I plan to keep this setup for quite awhile, updating components as required. A workstation board isn't for everyone though, no visual sheilding on the I/O, the Audio isn't as good as a gaming board, and the fact that you're paying a premium for compatibility, and a more rugged design.

The difference being that that GPU has a tangible effect on your PC's capacity to run demanding games well. X99 doesn't really add anything.

What are you confused about? X99 isn't really gaming-focused, it's more for content creation/workstation purposes. If you want stable, any of the workstation grade mobo's should be fine. But you are dealing with a new chipset which will have growing pains. Not to mention the complete randomness of any motherboard to crap out unexpectedly, there's no guarantee. Get something with a good warranty, buy it, build it, game.
