Can a mic pick up sound from open headphones?

Yeah, Modmic not.

But my friend has a Blue Snowball and the sound on his open headphones was pretty loud and the snowball could pick it up.

(I heard it in one of his live commentaries :D )

Specifically, a mic attached to the headphones, like the modmic. I was looking at a pair of open headphones and realized this could be a problem.

The Modmic has excellent environmental noise cancellation, no need to worry about that

No they shouldn't pick up noise.

I can not guarantee with all headphones, but using my COPs with the Modmic, even at 100% volume (on my elitebook and p8p67 ws integrated audio), the modmic picks up no audio from them. However, it does pick up audio from the Tele and the speakers I use (both of which I use at 10% volume at a distance of about 5 feet).
