CPU fan always at max speed

razor767
Go to solution Solved by razor767,

Dusting it off a bit seems to have fixed the problem. Fan is running at normal speed and no error message.

When I turn on my PC my CPU fan is constantly at full speed. I've had this PC for 2 years and this has never happened before. Can someone please help?

Edit: I forgot to mention that I get a "CPU fan error" and it does not boot.

Is everything else running fine? What are the temps?

Have you tried a different fan header? Have you changed your thermal paste since you've got it? is the heatsink making contact with the cpu?

If the fan is PWM I'd consider trying a different fan and see what happens.

Sorry for late the reply, I was on mobile and was having problems.

CPU temps are around 80 degrees. On closer inspection it's actually the top case fan that's spinning at full speed. My bad, I got confused becuase the error message read "CPU fan error".

Any help on how to fix this?
