Hello everyone! My first post here ;)

I am going totally overkill with my new watercooled build. I am stuffing 2x 480mm radiators in a Phanteks Enthoo Primo case. I am doing pull on the rads. I need to find out the quietest fans on the market. I dont care about the CFM, I just care about the noise. They will all be running at the lowest setting. I want to achieve the quiet system build. Can you provide me with some links? I live in the UK.

Thanks!

No those black Noctua fans are not quiet even at lowest RPM. You have to get the regular beige ones. (I have both types)

If you want a pull setup, then putting fan shrouds between the radiator and the fans (if space allows) will make them quieter.

I also think for pull at minimum RPM with shroud with no exhaust restrictions, the NF-P12 may be better than NF-F12. I would still go with the NF-F12 since they are more versatile in case you change your setup in the future.

There may be better fan options out there for minimum RPM in a pull config, but unfortunately not many reviews are done with that setup.

I am not so up to date with noctuas..

depending on location:

states: rosewill hyperborea - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200068

aboard: akasa apache - http://www.amazon.com/Akasa-Apache-Cooling-S-Flow-Design/dp/B003H04XEY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421275860&sr=8-1&keywords=akasa+apache

600-1300 rpm

2.76 mm/h2o

16 dBA

all black works as case fans too.

I second the Akasa Apache Blacks, they are almost silent when run at full speed.

Noctua fans are great, but very pricey and can be very loud if you run them at full speed.

Alternatives include BeQuiet Shadow Wings (or pure wings), Noiseblocker eLoops or Scythe Grand Flex (or gentle typhoons if you can find them).

If you have any questions about specific fans feel free to ask, best of luck :)

I forgot to mention that I need them to be PWM. I love the noctua performance but the poop brown just puts me off. The Apache blacks look promising... I'll order one and have a look! :)

The black noctua fans can be controlled to lower rpms, so it isn't as big a deal for noise. Check up on linus's video on that and he would suggest the 2000 rpms without much issues if set up right.

Still new, but learning

considered by who?  from personal experience, they are not.  I have 3, ended up taking them out of my build.

sure specs look great, and actual air noise is low.  but at low speeds they produce a very audible clicking noise.  I have both 120 and 140 mm versions laying around cause I ended up not using them

to OP

from personal experience, rpm to noise ratio, here's the order I'd put the fans in for going for the quietest setup

Scythe Gentle Typhoons - I have 1850 rpm version and they undervolt great down to 400-500 rpm, become audible around 900 rpm.  these are above the eLoop cause it feel like they move more air per rpm (hand test, nothing scientific) and can be used in both push and pull.  and undervolt better.  and cheaper if you

Noiseblocker eLoop - can only be used in push, become audible around 900 rpm

Noctua AF14 (140mm fan)

Noctua NF-F12 - becomes audible around 750-800 rpm, also considerably louder than the others at 1000 rpm

Akasa Apache - I wouldn't use these if you plan to run under 1000 rpm.  but if you do plan at running at 1000 rpm I think these are the best.  they're about the same on loudness, the ticking goes away, and they move way more air than any of the other fans.  I may be doing the non scientific hand in front of fan test, but there's no doubt that these move the most air per rpm of any fan I've tried.

from my personal experience of 11 hyperborea 120mm fans in a system at

600-1000 rpm i have none of what you had described. via PWM or static

voltages.

on that note, all 20 of my AP/GT-15 deffo have a click or grind when volting

less than 8.2v. via fan controller or resistors. similar to the noctua PWM moan

at less than 70%, can be best described as a capacitor surge on/off.

Maybe the hyperborea are better than the akasa's... I just assumed they were the same. All 3 of my akasa's are like that and my 5 gentle typhoons are not...

I tried all my fans off a mobo header and a lamptron fan controller, the kind with the knobs
