If just gaming or primarily gaming: I5-4690k

If gaming and significant content creation as well: I7-4790k

The I7-4790k is also good if you run a lot in the background

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

4770k is no longer an option the 4790k is better and the same price 4790k is the best 1150 chip

since you only have R9 270 i would suggest i5-4460 cuz the gpu doesn't have that much power so 4690k or 4790k would be a waist of money unless you're planning on getting another gpu in the futur and if so u should go for 4790k

If you do a lot of stuff like rendering and that the 4770K it's a nice option.

If you're only gaming get an i5 4690K

And if you haven't bought the GPU I would get an i5 and strech to a beefier GPU.

4690k for most purposes, If your planning 3d modeling, Rendering, Video/photo editing etc then i would lean towards a 4790K if its in the budget.

are you just gaming or do you do 3d rendering or multitasking or streaming or video editing too?

What will you use your pc for? If for gaming, I would suggest the i5 4690k.

What are you planning on doing with it?

Mostly just gaming and some porgramming. Not really any youtube stuff i do a  fair amount going on in the background but not THAT much. I also do plan to upgrade my gpu in a month or two. Also would i be fine with my PSU? its a corsair 430 watz. or would i need to get a knew one? anddddd would having a second r9 270 help and someone said it would bottleneck my GPU would that harm it in anyway? thank you! (sorry for so many 'and's

A 4690K would be your best bet :)

if you're budget is 350 just get the i7, that way you will go longer without needing an upgrade.

Sounds to me like a 4690k would do you well. If your planning to upgrade your gpu then you should plan to get a larger psu dependant on what gpu you decide on.

If you're adding another Gpu so go with 4790k cuz it has the best single core performance in the history of Cpu's and it has Hyperthreading which 4690k doesn't have you will need that futur games currently BF4 is the only game that utilises 8 threads but there are plenty of games coming soon , and one more thing if you're siriously adding another Gpu you should upgrade your Psu cuz it won't be able to handle 2 cards

your CPU is powerful enough to drive your 270 in every games out there why would you want to replace it now? you plan upgrading GPU?

sorry nevermind...430watts would be cutting really close if you would go with say an i5-4690K and a GTX970 for example...and not enough if you pick a radeon R9 290 GPU for example or dual 270....so you'd need a new PSU IMHO.

these would be my suggested upgrades to your rig:
