Help on gaming rig under 550

My friend wants a budget gaming rig to rival the PS4.  I am fine with used and refurbished parts.  The only requirements are as follows:

-Must have at least a 7870 or 660 ti (used for good price)

-4 GB of RAM (Im giving him some and used)

-AMD upper quad core or lower six core (definitely not used)

-aftermarket cooler

-semi modular

Just a thought, but how about some doing some research yourself?

 

No offense, but you seem to have some knowledge. I don't mind helping people who have no idea where to start or if someone got a specific problem.

Just a thought, but how about some doing some research yourself?

I have done quite a bit actually.  I want to see what other people come up with.

Go 7870 XT for the GPU.  As for a CPU, an FX-6300 would probably be best for your considering the budget.

It goes over budget but if your looking for 2nd hand you should be able to do cheaper..

yeah it is but remember he is looking for 2nd hand components so he could save money in other areas...

But still a single 120 rad cooler probably wouldn't even beat a high end air cooler.

Yeah i get that point but i guess it's just what I would go for....

As would I, he will go liquid cooling in a year or so (overclock)

It's only $35 after rebate. It was the cheapest psu around that would do the job without an adapter.
