New audio codecs and sound quality

I am having a few problems with the sound quality on my Roccat Kave xtd 5.1 headset (I am using windows 8.1). Would downloading audio codecs improve the quality? If so, which codecs would you suggest I dowbload?

Audio codecs don't usually help, it's mostly the headphones that are the culprit.

More interesting would be getting blown by someone who is drinking MD.

 

To the OP, usually the original recording and your headphones have the biggest impact on sound. If you're listening to 128kbps mp3, you'll want to try to find those songs in at least 192kbps, beyond that there isn't going to be much improvement.
