I'm new to folding and I've just got it all installed ETC and joined the LTT team, I had a few questions though.

How well does overclocking work with folding in terms of GPU's?  Is it more or less stable to OC during folding or games ( Example: games would be stable at 1600, but folding could achieve 1650?)

My top 970 does 1600 mhz in unigine valley, and my second card does around 1552 max, if I run both cards at 1552 whilst folding I'll definitely see an improvement in PPD, correct?

I've been folding for like 20 mins so far and it says my estimated PPD is 530k for both COMBINED 970 GPU's at 1455 mhz.

Is that a realistic number? I can't seem to find any stats for PPD from 970's on google searches, I found a guy that said he was getting 301k per 970 at 1600 mhz on his core, but he said it was only a 5 minute test, so IDK if that's a realistic number.

To me OC is only stable if it dosent lose anything that normal clocks can do.

.. if game works but folding fails(or anything else in computer world) = OC failed and so it isnt stable OC!

and Points are points "if you get them after all" (no failed WU on log after end).

Folding really doesn't like any OC on GPU's - in fact it can look like everything worked, and then if you check your log, you will actually see it failed on a rare occasion.

Estimated PPD should level out once you go above 10% complete or so.

How do I see if stuff is failing?  Or is it I'll just start losing PPD?

In the advanced tab the slot that failed will be red, I think

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6300 Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A DS3P RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz GPU: MSI R9 270 OC edition Case: Sharkoon VS3-S SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB HDD: 1TB Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair CX500W

*If I say something that seems offensive, please don't take it seriously, it was most likely meant as a joke/sarcastically*

The best option would likely be to keep track of your log,

not sure if folding has a more automatic metric for it..

See 4'th post in this thread, you will see uncompleted

wu's or restarts if it fails. it's good if every wu's consistently

shows 100% completion.

In the advanced tab the slot that failed will be red, I think

If it fails several times in a row, but not if it fails occasionally.

? i OC my gpu to 1500mhz and i get better folding results

Yes, some OC's will work, but an OC that does pass all other tests can still failing on Folding. If yours works though, that is great.

I doubt you're getting 500k ppd on 2 970s. Maybe 300-325k at the most

I mined for around 3 hours and completed one WU on both GPU's, and I had around 519k PPD in the thing in the bottom left hand corner

I'll mine tonight and take a screenshot for you so it's a bigger sample size.    From what I've seen from OCN + googling, 220k-270k seems to be the average for 970s.
