I would like to upgrade my RAM . . . But it's not as simple as it seems or is it? I have no idea.

TBH I already feel I am happy with mine, apart from the way it looks, it's 8gb but bare green and boring to look at. . . It's only 1333 cl9, would I see any sort of benefit upgrading to 8gb again vengeance or dominator or ripjaws at 1600? . . . I don't do any video editing, as tempting as it is to get 16gb, I just don't think I'd need it? . . . So any tips or should I just leave it?

You probably won't notice a difference. Given how expensive RAM is these days, I don't see any point to just get another 8gb kit that looks different

For gaming you will get 0% performance increace.

And 8gb is enough for gaming.

Heya,

Nah, you won't notice any performance improvement with a faster kit of RAM, but if you're willing to purchase purely for aesthetic reasons. Go for it!  ^_^

I suggest doing this:

Buy 2x4GB sticks for now of a brand/aesthetic you like. You won't be getting an upgrade, but now you can upgrade to 16GB later if you really feel like you need it.

RAM can be used for Fancy Cache or RAMDisk.

Fancy Cache is a program that auto-loads things on your HDD to your RAM that you use frequently (OS/games come to mind). You don't have control over it. It just monitors what you use and how often and then acts accordingly.

RAMDisk turns your RAM into a disk drive. This gives you 1-3GB/s transfer speeds beating the crap out of SSD's.If you don't have one, you can basically buy both extra RAM and an advanced SSD at the same time.

Though you won't ever be able to fully utilize the 1-3GB/s transfer speeds, since you have to copy/paste the data each time you boot/reboot your machine (though some RAMDisk applications let you set that to automatic if you use the same stuff every time), it will still be a performance increase. Games will load pretty much instantly.

Out of the two, I usually prefer Fancy Cache since it's basically automatic.

as simple as i can say... no

no if your doing daily task, which you seem to as you have no ram disk or high demanding task (rendering, photoshop, etc.)

Hiya fellas. I'm supposed to have 2x8GB of kingston predator DDR3 @ 1866 mhz, but CPU-Z says my RAM speed is @ 938.8Mhz (1:7) @ 9-10-9-27.. am I "freaking out" over nothing or is there a problem? also CPU-Z says my 3770K frequency is @ 1608.35Mhz..http://valid.canardpc.com/2846121 I'm puzzled.. I'm a noob at this stuff, just did my very first build in December and I know pretty much nothing about this stuff.. all i know is which parts are supposed to be good ,but haven't looked into these things too much. If someone would tell me what's going on here, I'd learn something new yet again. Thanks!

Well if you can afford it look at your m/board manual and look up the highest spec of recommended memory module kits for the board (ones you also like) and go for a 16 gig kit that is at the max speed for your board, then it will perform well, look good and be future proof for a long time.

If the max your board recommends is less than 2133mhz then i would wait until your next upgrade.

got to love Asus components

Thanks my motherboard is a Maximus V Gene. . . I went with Corsair's LP vengeance 16000 but now I've changed my cpu cooler to a liquid one haha.
