Hi, since I order my new card which is MSI GTX 980 GAMING 4G  I came across this video regarding overcloking.

Now I know that most people say don't touch voltage when overcloking  so what would you say about this guy ?  please check the video !

so is it safe?  the way he overcloks the card? won't it burn down ? since voltage has been increased ?

Voltage causes increased degradation on computer hardware. Increasing voltage in of itself does not cause hardware to be destroyed - obviously since many of us overclocks do increase voltage on our CPUs and GPUs. I haven't watched the video, so I can't comment. However, I do have a GTX 970(Windforce) and these are my current settings*

Given that though, my settings are a little conservative. I have gotten 1.5GHz stable on the Core in everything but Borderlands The Pre-Sequel.

I assume 9xx GPUs overclock much easier, than, say, 5xx?

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

Yes, it's pretty easy.

...increasing voltage is one of the main points of overclocking...

you wont get any good overclocks without increasing voltage

Is it that when you increase voltage you lose some power ? fps ? I am sorry I am new at this topic.

No. Voltage is potential electrical force. It is used to make the electricity flow faster, delivering power faster to and through components.

when you overclock, the card needs more power

increasing the voltage allows it to use more power

if you dont increase the voltage, the GPU will be starved for power and will become unstable, causing artifacting or crashes
