Amd vs Intel processors. Pros/Cons

Hey everyone.
I don't know if a topic like this already exists. I looked for it but didn't find a direct one for what I want to know.

Now to the main subject:

I've been using intel processors since like pentium I until core I5.
Never had a amd (just in a internship I used one a bit, but not for to long)

I trust Intel since I never had a single problem, I used to have a core2duo overclocked to almost 5ghz for almost two years, never failed me.
But the prices between the two brand makes me rethink about getting a amd on the future.

So if all of you could say some pros/cons on the amd vs intel discussion (a bit of fanboism won't hurt)
I'm looking for your thoughts on the performance, cost, etc on similar processors of both brands.

Intel has a MUCH bette single core performance...

I like Intel much more allthough I have an AMD processor...

BUT... don't think AMD is bad....

AMD is for THAT price very good it has a VERY good value

Amd for the price, that's the only pro.

 

I'd still choose an FX 6300 over an i3 though, but i wouldn't choose ANY amd over an i5.

AMD 4 dayz. Running an FX-8350.

There is a reason why the prices are so far apart. AMD has nothing close to competitive with even the i5 4440 when it comes to gaming. AMD's top processors right now are over three years old and don't perform much better than the phenom ii cpus. Plus Intel has cheaper motherboard options that won't cause any issues with stability/reliability.

For gaming the only really good value amd has is the Athlon x4 860k, and that only if you absolutely don't see yourself upgrading the cpu later on. In every other situation you'll get a better experience with an i3 or an i5 4460 and cheap mobo.

For budget workstations a fx 6300 would do ok but the fx 8 cores plus mobo would only be slightly cheaper than a xeon 1231 v3 and mobo but the xeon is way better.

Hopefully amd can turn this around when they release zen next year

I run an fx chips over i3 cause I hate i3s always had problems with them but nothing competes with an i5 from amd and well the best are xeons/i7s

860k/FX = better multi core

Pentium/i3/i5 = better single core

i7 = best at all!
