So I leave my PC on 24/7 and i don't see a reason to turn it off. I was wondering if consumer hardware is capable of running 24/7 (obviously not at full load these kind of computers aren't servers).

Yep... I've done it before...

Maybe also the reason why my laptop's fan wore down quickly...

Yeah, if you put them in sleep you can go for a while without doing a full shut downs for a while, but it's still recommended to reboot from time to time because things can start to get a little weird software wise after a while, but a reboot once a week should fix the weirdness.

I turn it off when i go to school on Fridays, and turn it back on when I get home, gives it a few hours a week downtime.

I have it on 24/7 like 3 days in a week.  You might know you get better down speeds at night. So without having any choice left, I keep it overnight and stuff like that so that i can get my stuff downloaded quickly.

I rarely restart my PC because I don't normally use software I'm not 100% familiar with but generally I never have any problems with slowdowns or crashes.

Fan bearings can wear out over time and start rattling. Otherwise it should be fine is guess.

Someone`s steal leaving at home.*

fixed*

i work at night so i still have good bandwidth left in the morning ^^ except nobody is online at the time in my timezone but ok. at least my crappy internet is not-so-crappy at that time. Can normally play youtube videos haha

If you keep it running so long, make sure the fans wont die on you, keep em lubed and gpu would be really helpful if it was off at idle but you have crappy gtx 460 ... no go.

What psu you have?

Mine have been on ever sense when i build my rig and plug it on the wall.

You should shut it down about once a week, allows the OS to reset itself and to allow update. I give my pc some time to cool off while im in the shower.

I have take that habit that, when i go some where other place. Like my parent's home. Then i shut it down. But when i know that i am home, i don't bother to shut it down. Even my OS is on flash.

Failure is not an option!

I usually turn mine off every night unless it is downloading something. My last PC I left on 24/7 and had no problems with that, to be honest I dont know why I started turning this one off.
