As stated, I used a USB drive to flash the BIOS. Monitor said it updated, and now it won't post. Also, my case LED's aren't coming on. The on board CPU temp is sitting at 00. Everything's running though. GPU is lit up, fans running. CPU Cooler fan is running. I tried removing the CMOS battery with the PSU switch off, but nothing after I put it in, power switch on, and powered on.

My specs are in my build log, here.

why did you update it?.............. rule #1, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

is the board under warranty?

I just felt having everything up to date was a good idea, was all. The board is under warranty, yes. I don't know if it's out though... I mean all the lights it normally has are still on when I power on.

You made sure to reset to default settings before you updated, right? MSI support advises (so they said to me) to clear your settings before updating or otherwise it is trying to load previous settings that may not be incompatible anymore. Try resetting the BIOS via the jumpers instead. Unplug everything first. Everything. If that doesn't work, try putting your computer down to its basic components.

I did not do this. That would make sense. How do you reset via the jumpers?

Important: This will not restore your previous BIOS version.

I don't have one of the jumpers anywhere, nor do I have a button. And,to top it all off, I can't remove this battery for the life of me lol. It's removable, I just can't work it out

hook the monitor to the motherboard. that might have been the problem. everything was reset after the bios update.

It's hooked to the motherboard at this second and nothing

did you hook the monitor to the motherboard and give it a try?

there has to be a jumper on it for it to work. so move that jumper to the "reset" pins and then move it back.

I did, and I've still got no post. And there is no jumper. The only pins by JBAT1 on the board is a set of two next to the battery that has no jumper.

I found it via the manual. It's right by the battery. It's only two pins, and there's nothing on it. It's just the two prongs with black blocks at the bottom that don't come off. The book says "You can clear the CMOS RAM by shorting this jumper while the system is off. Afterwards, open the jumper. Do not clear the CMOS RAM while the system is on because it will damage the motherboard."

yes, only do it with the machine off.  in the pdf it seems to show no jumper. I'm used to seeing a jumper. To reset take a flat screw driver and jump the 2 pins. I've had boards with 2pins that had a jumper on one pin and if you needed to clear cmos you moved it to both pins and then back again.

board might be screwed. always follow rule #1 ( see above )

don't update BIOS unless there's a specific reason you need to run something your current BIOS doesn't support.

maybe an RMA  is in order?

I guess so, I'll have to set one up. Never had to go through that process, but my monitor has a dead pixel so I was going to have to go through it for that anyway.

Thanks for your help today. Granted, I have to send it back still. But it happens. You helped a hell of a lot more than a different forum lol. So thanks.

Try to take out the battery for 20 seconds
