Seems to be updated works for me agian without turning of SSL scanning.

Hello,

Recently I have been having a problem that hotmail.com won't load I just thought hotmail had a issue for a couple of days till I realised my friends were still be able to check their mails.

I noticed it was my browser: Chrome & Internet explorer and when I tested it with Mozilla Firefox it worked fine?

I also tested this on Maxthon and it also doesn't load on that one.

I haven't changed anything that could have caused this what I'm aware off and I found it rather strange that it still works on Mozilla firefox???

Chrome error code:

ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

Internet explorer:

This page can’t be displayed•Make sure the web address http://www.hotmail.com is correct.•Look for the page with your search engine.•Refresh the page in a few minutes.

Maxthon:

Cannot connect to the websitePlease make sure: - You have entered the correct URL. - You are connected to the Internet.- Your firewall is properly configured.- The website is not encountering any technical problem at the moment.Error code 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET)

I have tryed:

Re-installing Chrome

Flushing the DNS

Checked my proxy settings (automatically detects settings is enabled)

Tryed whitelisting hotmail.com & live.com in bitdefender

My firewall & Antivirus: Bitdefender

Windows 7

Bump! I have the same problem. Outlook.com will not load from either Google Chrome or IE 8. However, Mozilla Firefox loads the site perfectly. I have deleted my cookies for the site on Google Chrome yet yielded no changes. I don't think it is my antivirus (Bitdefender)...

Google Chrome:

     Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

IE 8:

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

  • Internet connectivity has been lost.
  • The website is temporarily unavailable.
  • The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
  • The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
  • There might be a typing error in the address.
  • If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit) and I have Bitdefender as my antivirus. One could say that it's our antivirus but I shut down Bitdefender's services for a while and still Outlook wouldn't load.

I have tried going to http://www.msn.com/en-ca to get to Outlook and as well as http://www.hotmail.com/ and http://www.Outlook.com/ . None of these methods allow me to get to the site which is always directed to https://login.live.com/login .

Anyone else have any ideas?

Ok after you said you had the same problem as me I did some research it was indeed bitdefender that caused this.

When I turned SSL scanning off hotmail proceeded to load correctly agian..

I will edit this when I found it working agian with SSL scanning on.

Yup, this worked. I went under Privacy Control and turned off SSL Scan. Loads now, thanks! However, I find it kind of odd that this wasn't a problem until recently. Quite odd.

Anyway, thank you!

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for this solution. Really I really appreciate it. I cant open my hotmail for like more than a week already. I tried to change registry in windows etc but did not work..

I got the same problem with the same antivirus installed. Never thought that was the root of this problem.
